• — : Mornl heroism is not an extinct virtue ; witness the following incident ' \v lm:ii (Mi'.urred a few days ago on the Devou-rbire coast. Two Brixhaui trawlers, the Dazzler and the Susan ' Putey, came iuto collision off Star Point resulting in the loss of five lives. As the, Dazzler was going down 1 head first - Mugford, the third hand, immediately seized a life, buoy, and . while the men were struggling in the sjeai Harris, the skipper, said loud enough to reach Mugfbfd " Whatever will my poor wife aud children do if I am drowned ?" Mugford immediately exclaimed, "Here skipper, take this life buoy/' (releasiug " nimself from it and pushing it to wards Harris) ; " I have no one but myself to support; nobody else will , suffer." Harris, however, was as anxious to save his companion's life his own, and putting oue of his arms round the buby, : he saidi " Jack, put your.-arm round like this and it will keep, us both up; anyhow we will both share the sanie fate " Happily thejijwere both eventually picked up an4;taten to Brixhaia.7
