fEK UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. ) Wellington, This Day. One of the severest gales ever experienced here took place yesterday, No serious damage was done. Last night a heavy gale waa blowing, but this morning there is a complete change of weather. The wind has died away altogether and the sun is shining brightly. Blenheim, May 11. It has been raining for f about 30 hours and still continues. Much damage is likely to be done at the Mahakipawa diggings. This evening the town was several inches under water. Invercargill. May 11. Warm rain has fallen in the country round the upper reaches oftheOreti river. It is feared the farms on the lower flats will be submerged. New Plymouth, May 11. A heavy gale has been blowing during the night. The N.Z. Times' Havelook correspondent wires : — It has been raining since Sunday and the Upper Pelorous is in the highest flood known for years, sheep and timber being washed down.
