Several months ago, on the faith of seeing the necessary poles lying alongside the road, we were weak enough to state that telephone communication would soon be opened between Feilding and Awahuri. The poles are still there, and likely to remain for all we know to the contrary. In this connection we think the time has now arrived for active agitation to be got up by both Feilding and Birmingham to have a telephone line constructed between these two places. This work would not only be a boon to the settlers, but also would be a paying investment of Government money.
