Dunkdin, April 30 During the voyage of the barque Northern Chief, which has just, arrived from Newcastle, a dead body was sighted floating in the eea, when the vessel was off Maunganui Bluff, oq the weai coast, between Kaipara and Hokianga. The body, which was appearently clad in dark clothes, was soon lost sight of, and could not be recovered. Nothing is known of the idimtiy of the drowned man, A settler at Bhkenhead, William Wernhain, died suddenly yesterday morning. At the iuquest the verdict was that death had resulted from heart disease. Wernhain, who was 6L years of age, leaves a widow and five children. At the inquest on the body of a Native named Papeta, who hanged himself at Wharekau, it transpired that he had committed suicide as a result of di&appoiuted love.
