Education Board
The regular monthly meeting of the above Board was held on, Monday •eveni.ug.. r Present— Messrs Sanson, Bridge, Baker, Fiy, Hurley, Beckett, Itoss, and: Notumn. Mr Sanson was voted to tiie chair. Chairman It was resolved, that Mr Camm be re-elected Chairman for &he eusuing year. School Committee—-It was resolved, that.in all cases where householders [tail to elect committees that the Executive authorise- them to hold a ;aec<>u<l meeting. Assistant Inspector—lt was resolved that the appointment of Mr Spencer •as assistant'inspector be eoutirmed. ■ Bunny thorpe—Letter ifrbm Bunnytliorpe Committee;;"re increased ac Mcommodatiou. Resolved, that as the Hiwiuui School has just been opened, the Board will defer taking any action in the matter pending receipt of the next quarter's return. Appointments; in Committee—Ha■wwa: Letter of resignation from Isabel Hutchison, pupil teacher; resignation accepted. Momahaki: Letter read from Miss Celia Sargeant ■accepting pupil teacher ship ; appointment confirmed. Pohangina: .rle removal of teacher; resolved, that a -copy of the letter be forwarded to the teacher requesting an explanation. Mangatoki: Letter received from ■Committee requesting the appointment of Mr Chambers, lesqlved to inform Mr Chainbsrs that the Board would wait a month if h> would accept the position. Feilding: Letter from Saul Campbell applying for a cadetship at Feildiug; resolved, that lie he appointed. Waitotara : Letter from T. Cooke lodging complaint against the master ; resolved that Mr Oouke be written to and informed that if his son atteuded regularly at ■echool there would then be no occasion to retain him after hours. Application from Mr Blenerhasset applying for a pupil teacbership; held over pending of ntjcesury le.tificites. Palmerston North: Eesolved, that Miss Verdon Jbe transferred from Btoney Creek to; Palmerston. A letter was received from Mr Stent stating that the school site at Pemberton had been cleared ready for building. The Kirn) ol~on Committee applied for funds for the removal of closets, and the application was gi anted. An api'l cation from Waifcuna ScHo >1 for desks and requisites was granted. The painting contract for the various schools, and residences was considered, and it was resolved to call for alternative tenders to paint the buildings with hematite or paint. For building new schools at Pemberton and Apifci, it was resolved that the time be extended, and the tenders referred to the Executive Committee. The Board .then adjourned.
