MORE FATAL RIOTS.
AN OLD MAN KILLED BY TWO LADS. (per press association.) London, April 23. In the House of Lord 9 to-day the Mar guis of Salisbury aunounced that the i ortuguese Goverernmeut had ordered the removal of every obstacle interfering with the free navigation of the Pungwe Rm>r and the passage into the interior, but said that the demeanour of the Portuguese officials in Maskon aland was so unsatisfactory that three British warships had been ordered to rendezvous off the mouth of the river to protect British terests."Romf, April 24 Two hundred and fifty tons of gunpowder, stored in the magaziue, exploded to-day, resulting in five persons beiug killed and 120 injured. Two hundred and fifty people altogether were injured by the explosion of gunpowder. London, April 24. There has been large withdrawals, of gold for Lisbon, and Russia is expected to take a million in May. Sydney, April 24. Two lads named Deaken, aged 15 and 10 years respectively, were placed on trial to-day charged with the murder of an old man at Gol Gol, whom they shot, while he was lying in bed. The motive for the crime is said to have been spite. The younger boy turned Queen's evidence and the elder one was sentenced to death.
