I PER UNITED PBEB9 ASSOCIATION. J Dunedin, April 9. What is apparently a cruel and sense* less hoax had been committed by someone in connection with the Kakanui. A botile has been picked up o« the Peninsula which, on being opened, was found to contain a cigarette card with the folk lowing inscription : —"3—1—91. JCakanui see off the Chatham Islands, disabled. The crew supposed to be on tne islands. Send assistance at once.
