The Faust Family

This talented company gave an entertainment last . night in the Assembly , Booms to a crowded house. The large attendance was a manifest compliment to the well-earned reputation of the performers'because the weather was rough and boisteroii^ with a promise, ' which , was duly fulfilled, that the people would get a drenching going home. The overture by the Quintette Brass Band Was very effective, and Master Victor's ballad was touchingly sung. The Bellringers followed with " The Marsellaise " and " Bule Britannia " which were, skilfully played, although not so well 'perhaps as as our old friends the Lancashire 'Bellringers. Mr Gils Lynch as a typical (stage) Yorkshireman was very amusing, while his dancing capabilities were something marvellous. The cornet solo " The Death of Nelton " was beautifully played by Herr Yon der Mehden, and received a well earned «ncore. , The comic representation of " Good Old Mary Ann " by the Great Eugene, kept the audience in roars , of laughter. The same result attended the' musical absurdity '* The art of Music " by Messrs F. and E. Faust. The duet on mandoline and guitar, by Mr Ted Faust and Mr Mehden was really excellent. The other parts of the show were all Wood, and we may safely say, without the slightest fear of contradiction, that such, uproarous and Hearty laughter has never been heard in the Hall since it was built.' At the conclusion of the" performance' Mr' ( St. Clair announced they would pay a return visit on the 24th instant. A piece of news which was received with cheers,.
