As yet do definite settlement has beea *• come to respecting the public works expenditure of the Government. Ministers ? cannot at present tell exactly how much. ' will be available, including the amount expected to be derived from the loan conversion operation. We are informed from Wellington " that the following will be~ soinething like the outline of the scheme to be proposed to Parliament in the coming sessicftr:^-North of Auckland, £30,---0 -Rotdrua Railway, £30,000 ; Eketa-huna-Woodville, £40,000; WellingtonTeAro, £C 3,000; Greymouth Hokitika, ±30,000; Otdgo Central, £70,000; otherOtago lines— nz., Seaward Bush, CathnVRiver, eto, £70,000. Also, out of theNorth Island Trunk Railway loan £70,- - 000, for further extension of that line.,, and for roads and other works in connec- ' tion there with.— N.Z. Herald. - • '
