The Feilding Star. THURSDAY, APRIL, 3, 1891. The Bridge at Aortngi
- ' r+ At the last meeting of the Manchester .Road Board no definite conclusion was arrived at in connection with the erection of a bridge Over the Oroua river at Aovangi, but it was pretty well understood that the members were favorable to the work, and of the opinion that a commission should be asked for from the Government iv accordance, with the provisions of the " Public Works Act Amendment Act, 1889 V As the Board will meet again on Saturday next, we hope the necessary steps will then be taken, because much valuable time has been lost, therefore the sooner the plans are prepared, the commission sits, the proportionate charges allotted to the several local, bodies likely to be made contribu'or?) the better it will be for all parties. The members of the Feilding Borough Council have already passed an affirmative resolution, and it is well : kuown that the; Coun-, cillurs, individually and colle&tively, are so much in favor of the project that the Council will not be limited to the amount they have already prom ißed to grautf should occasion arise. There is no more necessary public work in the whole district than this, and the benefits and advantages which will follow its completion cannot be over-estimated. We therefore hope and trust that the Manchester Road Board will take immediate action.
