■» The monthly meeting of the above was held on Tuesday' and Wednesday last* Present — Messrs Carson (chair), Sanson* Bridge, Fry, Baker, Beckett, Hurley, and Notman. Eepoi't. — The report of the Executive Committee was then read and received, and.it was resolved, that the Executive Cointnittee.be authorised to effect an exchange between Miss Haynes and Miss McDonald, assistant mistresses., at Feilding and Palmerston North respectively * if all parties are found to be agreeable. Appointments. — The Board then went into Committee td consider appointments and other business. The. following correspondence was read-: — Hiwinui : Frord the Hiwinui Committee selecting Mr Goldsbury ; appointment- approved, .Manutahi : From Manutahi Committee selecting Mr F. J. Thompson; appointment confirmed. Porewa: Letter from Miss Harper, of Porewa, resigning and asking the Board to forgo the usual month's notice ; resignation accepted and agreed to dispense with month's notice. It was resolved to send on the name of Mf Tompkins (Goat Valley) for approval by Committee. Goat Valley : It was resolved to offer the appointment to Mr Leonard Wat kins, if the Commissioners are agreeable^ Whenuakura ; The Com-* mittee wrote applying for a cadet; it was resolved to ask the Committee to suggest a suitable candidate. Feilding : Letters received from Feilding Committee stating that they had selected Miss Haynes as assistant teacher : Miss Haynes was duly appointed. Mount View : Letter- from Mr . C. H. Tomlinson, of- Mount View, applying for re- appointment; resolved that this Board decline to approve of the appointment. The counting of votes of the various school committees in the district for three members of the board was proceeded withf.The chairman announced that Messr3 Baker, Sanson, and . Hurley (the old members) had' been re-elected. Seventyfour committees voted, the votes of fiye of them being informal, owing to tfio papers being unsigned. The. Voting was as follows :— Baker, 66; Sanson, 64; Hurley, 61-; and Stewart, 13. Moyed by Mr Fry," seconded by Mf Sanson, and carried, " That the secretary take the necessary steps for the annual election of the school committees." Painting Schools— The painting of various schools was discussed, and it was> I eventually decided to defer the matter for one month to enable the members to re* port thereon. Feilding— Letter with reference to extension of residence^ Resolved,'^ ..'• That the Board has more claims upon "it elsewhere." ■--<.- Ashurst — Application for increased" grant for shelter shed. Resolved, " That the Board cannot grant more than i>7, a» in the case of other schools." ' ' Apiti— Resolved to call for tenders for school building. " - • ''- Birmingham— Claim for new school in district not entertained. Scholarships. — On the motion of Mr' Bridge it was resolved, " That in future all scholarships must be held at the .Collegiate School, or some other High School appointed by the Board, oratthtf Girh' College, Wanganui." The Board then adjourned until the last Monday in April. :
