The old man William Veitch, who was enticed but df his house and brutally assaulted and robbed on the riiglit df the 23rd March at Wairoa South} died this afternoon; On Monday lasib^ as Veitch appeared to be\ sinking, bis "depositions were taken before" two Justices of the Peace* Captain Crawford and Mr James Bell} at his house at Wairoa South, and in the presence of Thoruas Fry; alias Floyd, who Had been remanded dn a charge of assault and robbery, Vietch then identified Fry as the man who assaulted him; ...;■-. April 1. Tbdmas Fry, alais Floyd, who fras arrested on a charge of assault and robbery of the old man Wm. Veitoh; who lifts since died, was brought up tb»dajr at the Police Court and charged rtrith the Wilful murder of Veitch. On the application 'of ilnspe'ctor Broham the case was remanded for a week.
