Autumn Meeting, and there was a large attendance of the public. i Autumn Stakes, of 500 soys ; One mile and a half. — Carbine, 1 ; Highborn, 2. Only two Btarted. Won pretty easily. Time 3inin 3sec. Betting — 10 to 1 on Carbine. Sires' Pboduce Stakes, 7 furlongs. — Strom boli, 1 ; Sanctuary, 2 ; Penance, 3. Five horses started. Time, lrnin 29^-sec. The A.J.C. St. Ledgeb. — Correze, 1 ; Greytown, 2 ; Victor Hu«o, 3. Time, ihmn ll^see. The Doncaster Handicap, of 1000 soys, and sweep of 10 soys each. — Paris, 1 ; Helene, 2 ; Marvel, 3. Twenty-nine horses started. A great race to the post resulted in a neck victory for Paris. Time, lniin 40sec. March 30. j Syracuse won the Maiden Stakes, Silence the Nursery Handicap, and Splendora the Flying Handicap. ! Champagne Stakes, 6 furlongs, of 1000 ' soys. — Oxide, 1 ; Stromboli, 2 ; Penance, ' 3. Won by a head in 1-16 J. i Sydney Gold Cup, of 1500 soys ; 2 miles — Highborn, 9-3, 1 ; Greygown, 8-5, 2 ; ' Yowi, 6-0, 3. Also ran — Cardigan, Little Bernie, Muriel, Tridentine, Utter, E.K., Wandsworth, Helene, Pretty Kate, Lancer, Southerly Buster. A desperate race resulted in a head victory for Highborn. Time, 3-37£. Highborn was backed to win about £'20,000, and Greygown and Little Bernie ' were each supported for nearly that amount.
