The Band Contest

For the Band Contest, which will take 'j place in the Assembly Kooms, on Friday aud Saturday nights, the following bands have entered : — The Garrison, Gray's, and Jenkins 1 Bands from Wellington ; the Woodville Brass, Palraerston Fire Brigade, Marton Royal Rifles, Wanganui ' Town, and Feilding Brass Bands. We understand that Jenkins' Band is unable to attend. The contest, however, is expected to be an interesting one. Mr C. D. Macintosh, of Wellington, is to act as judge. This event will mark an era in the history of the place, and will be, we trust, but the forerunner of many similar ones. About 14 members of the Wellington Garrison Band arrived in Feilding by the mail train to-day, and took up their quarters at Oliver's Empire Hotel.
