She is now out of danger. The consideration of the Nicaragua Canal matter caused an exceedingly warm debate in the Senate on 1 6th 'of February, and an adjournment was carried to prevent further ill-feeling. Twenty-five million dollars worth "" of property will be sold in New York j in -March for unpaid taxes and asses- I ■ sments, running back over a quarter j , of a century. Washington and British Columbia have been united by railway. This is the first link by rail between the United States and British America thie side of the Missouri River.
