Maiden Flat (entries). — Sunnet, Dun Mare, Manaia, Manchester, Niobe, Nafc, Whakihi, Wales, Roulette, Memorial, Kissing Uup, Waitress, Sligo., Bracelet. — Fib, Mangenoko, Doncaster, Sea King, Never Miss, Memorial. WANGANUI RACES. Wanganui, March 11. For the opening day of the Wanganui J.C. Meeting beautiful weather was enjoyed. The attendance was estimated at 2500. i' 5464 was passed through the machines. Crackshot • was withdrawn from the Cup at the last moment, owing to him going lame while being saddled up. Cynisca's owner protested against his mare carrying 8-9, which was the weight the Handicapper altered from. 8-0. The following jockeys were fined by the starter for disobedience at the post: — Welter — Morrigan, £2. Hack Race — Cood and McCormiok, £2. Flying— Collelo, Ray, Lindsay, and McKay, £2 each. Hodson, was disqualified for the rest of the meeting for foul riding in the Flying.' Hurdles, of 100 soys ; 2£ miles. — Sentinel, 8-12, 1 ; Montrose 11., 9-2, 2 ; Myrtle, 9-0, 3. Won easily by four lengths. Dividend, £6 16s. The Hack Hurdles was won by Jupiter, with Waterbury second. Dividend, 395. Wanganui Cup, of 500 soys ; 1£ miles — Dudu, 8-12 (Matthews), 1 ; Cynisca, 8-9, 2 ; Weka, 7-2, 8. Kiekie and Re- | cluse also ran. Weka cut out the running for a mile, when Dudu went up and book command of affairs, and was never j afterwards troubled, winning by two .lengths from Cynisca, who was four ahead of Weka. Time, 3-8. Dividend, £2 Is. Two-year-old Stakes, of 150 soys ; 6 . furlongs. — Tiraillerie, 1; Cretonne, 2; Fraternite, 3 A tough race, Tiraillerie getting home by half a length in 1-18. Dividend, £2. Welter Handicap, of 50 soys ; 1 mile. — Fleta, 8-7, 1 ; La Petite Fille, 8-7, 2 ; Pyramus, 9-3, 3« Won rather easily; 1 Time,' l-46. Dividend, £s 12s. Waltonia appropriated the Hack Flat, beating Kimberley and eight others; and paying a dividend of £3 10s. Flying Handicap, of 100 soys; f -mile. — Retina, 7-10, 1; Boulanger, 8-2,2; Lochness, 7-9, 3. Whisper, Thackeray, Queen of Trumps and Rufus also ran. A splendid race up the straight resulted in a win for Retina by a length. Boulanger was greatly interfered with during the race. Time, l-16f. Dividend M 3s.
