The Feilding Star. THURSDAY, MARCH, 12, 1891. Heaping Coals of Fire on their Heads

We learn 'from ota- Birmingham correspondent, whose iuterestiug letter appears elsewhere, "that : a meeting; was held in Birmingham the other day to' discuss the advisability of forming that lising township into a Town ©istrict. One of the settlers preseat was deputed to obtain all '<■ necessary information and report at; the next mee'tiug, the date of which, was to ha advertised in the Eanariti- • kei Advocate and Manawatu Times. Though tbe Stak, we think, has been rather Unfairly ignored 'by the meeting, we will be magnanimous enough to save the members thereof further trouble and expense by informing them t ; hat their project is impracticable, as the A'et under which Town Districts could 'be formed has been repealed for four years past. The only course opem to tbe Birmingham aspirants for municipal honors is to; promote to the utmost of their ability, hy local production and foreign im•pwtafcion, tfhe iircrease of the popu« lation of Birtniwg'ham until there are one nuTvdred 'house-holders resident, when that progressive district /"may ive ; constituted a Municipality.
