Serious Explosion

• (per press association.) Wellington, This Day. An explosion occurred this morning at fche torpedo depot at Shelly Bay, by which three men were seyerely hurt. They were engaged filling some shells with gun cotton when about 12 pounds exploded. Information was . at once, sent' to town, and Dr Cahill went over in the Ellen Ballance along with officers from fche Defence Department. At first ifc was reported the men were dead, but although their injuries are serious they are not, so far as is known, fatal. The names are at present unknown, fche officials at the depot refusing to give fchem. Later. The men injured in the explosion are torpedo men — Ross, Goldie and Densen. The latter is the most injured. It is believed one or two others are slightly injured.
