Feildmg Presbyterian Church

The annual tea meeting in connection : with this Church was held last night. About 200 sat down to tea. There was an ample supply of good things, the tables being presided over by the following ladies : — Mesdames Bartholomew, "Watt's, S. J. Thompson, Sorley, Stevens, Eade, Shearer, Lethbridge, Whisker, Munro and Terry. The after meeting was presided over by the pastor, the Rev. Mr Murray, the speakers being the Revs. Wright, of Palmerston ; Ross, of Turakina ; and Mr Harris, of Feilding. The latter speaker chose for his theme "Sacred Song," of. the good influences of which he gave some apt illustrations. Several pieces from the " Children's Hosannas" were very nicely rendered by the choir, under the leadership of Mr Shearer. The reports as read by Messrs Stevens and Shearer showed the funds to be in a healthy condition, each department having a credit balance. A vote of thanks to the ladies, the speakers, and the choir, was proposed by Mr Stevens and seconded by Dr Sorley, after which the meeting was brought to a close by the singing of a hymn and pronouncing the benediction. |The Committee's report will appear in our next issue.]
