The Loss of the Kakanui
«. (PEE PEE9S ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, February 23. The Minister of Marine, in reply to a telegam from Mr H. S. Pish, M.H.E., has telegraphed that he to-day authorised the holding of an enquiry into the wreck of the s.s. Kakanui. Mr Fish has telegraphed suggesting that' the scope of the enquiry should embrace the causes which led to the steamer beine sent. * This Day. In order to sefc at rest all doubt respecting the fate of the steamer Kakanui the Government hare, decided to send tbe Hinemoa to make a further search of all islands south of StewartsIsland where there is a liklihood of theKakanui being found. The Hinemoa will leave on Thursday night and agaia visit the Macquarries, Auckland and Campbell Islands, as well as the Anti» podes and Bounty Islands. On her way back the steamer will call at the Ghathams to ascertain anything definite.as toy the fate of the barque A ssaye.
