Fighting in the Soudan
[ PER UNITED PKE3S ASSOCIATION. I Suakim, February 21. The Egyptian troops engaged in the assault on Tokar were coininauded by English officers. The troops advanced on Tokar down through thick bush, narrowly escaping an onslaught by 2000 dervishes, who assaulted the old Government buildings, where the troops were entrenched. The fighting occupied an hour and a half, when the Egyptian cavalry with a brilliant charge swept down on the rebels, completely crushing them. It is estimated that the dervishes' loss was 100 killed, including every Emm of importance, except Osuaan Digna, who witnessed the fight from the neighboring village of Alafit. A large quantity of guns and stores and a number of banners were captured. The Egyptian loss was 12 killed, including Captain Barrow, of the Lancashire Kegiment.
