The Municipal Guard of cavalry and the infantry who remained loyal, intercepted them, whereupon they retreated to the Town Hall and nominated a [Republican directorate. Desultory fighting went on till 2 p.m., when the Town Hall was captured at the point of the bayonet, when 300 soldiers and civilians were arrested. Twenty were killed and 60 wounded. The rebels relied on support from all parts of the country, but did not receive it.
