The Darling has 24 feet, and is still rising. In consequence of the flood, the traffic in North Wagga has to be carried on in boats. A man, name unknown, has been drowned. The Murray has inundated the lowlying lands in the Albury district, and thousands of sheep have been washed away. Han sen has confessed his guilt in the Peak Hill murder. He had quarrelled with Dunk and tomahawked him. Brisbane, January 20. A black gin has been found at Cooktown suffering from leprosy in its worst form, and the woman is in a fearful condition. Pebth, January 21. There are now 400 men on a new goldfield, where two nuggets of 140 and 40 ounces respectively have been found, and it is reported that another nugget of 200 ounces has been unearthed.
