Mr Parnell intends to appoint a delegate to visit Australia on his behalf. The efiect of the strike is most disastrous to trade, the loss already being estimated at half a million. He denies the report that he would agree to allow free access to Behring Sea. Bandits derailed a train in Texas, and stole twenty thousand dollars. Pabis, January 21. Fifty thousand people are out of work in Paris owing to the frost. The Chamof Deputies is voting immense sums for their relief. ' Yokohama, January 21. The Japanese Parliament House has been destroyed by fire. Antwerp, Janunry 21. At the wool sales to-day 4300 bales , were offered, of which 3200 bales were sold, including 360 bales of Australian wool out of 500 bales oftered. The attendance was limited, and owing to the small quantities offered, prices have fallen 10 centimes on those realised at the October sales. St. Petersburg, January. 22 By an explosion in Jasnovoda Colliery, near Azoif, a hundred miners were killed aud many injured.
