(PEE UNITED PE ESS ASSOCIATION). London, January 18. fAt a meeting of the Directors of various Scotch railway companies, a proposal to compromise matters in connection with the strike was declined. The men remain, firm, and the directors are also determined not to give way. i Owing to the strike, the export ship' piing trade has been suspended. A general strike is- threatened in support of the railway men. Rioting has taken place at Glasgow.
