A Ship on Fire

The fire commenced under the fore hatch, but owing to the de»se % smoke the firsmen'wt unable to doseend into the .hold to grapple with the names. The whole of fii» lower hold between the foreand main hatches "is burning/ The vessel, valued at £35,000, is owned by . Messi-a. Joan. Hardi* (St Co. of Glasgow, and i» an axoeptionally fine specimen of .naaj'me ajpohiteotui'e. The fire on the Talavera has been extinguished. Nearly 700 tons of cargo in the ship Talayara were found to be mere or less injured after the fire was subdued. The heat*, also oaused some of her plates to buckle. The damage to the vessel is estimated at £3000. The amount is covered by insurance in London.
