Destructive Fire at Masterton.

(pee pbess association.) Mastebton, January 10. A heavy Bale of wind is blowing ia Masterton to-day. A fire started on the upper plain and spread with great rapid* ity towards Masterton. The residences of Messrs limmers, Vaughan, Hoffmann, and Fond were destroyed. Several others are in danger. January 12. The fire which originated on Saturday on the upper plain has done an enermous amount of damage. Two miles of country has been devastated, fences, stock and houses falling" a prey '. to the flames. Heavy rain fell on Saturday nighc ami subdued the flames to such an extent that further damage was averted.
