The Upper House
The veteran speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Sir William FitzELerbett, having resigned owing to his great age and increasing deafness, rumours are afloat as to his probable successor. The :N Z. Times hints that Sir Maurice O'Rorke should be called to the Council at once, and appointed; We do not question the fitness 6f Sir Maurice, but why so much haste ? Surely the members of the Council should be allowed to make their own choice. That Sir Maurice O'Rorke will not be the man we feel assured, although we will nut be surprised if one-off the gentleman to be called to the Council shortly is appointed. . ."'"...::>' .; ' ..
