Blame's last despatch, dated December 13fch, in connection with the Behring Sea. fishery dispute, made proposals respecting the questions to be sub- ' lnitted to arbitration. A "reply to this "' ' despatch is still pending, and the Premier states that the alleged ultimatum of the British Ambassador is therefore without foundation. ...... . - January 6. - •.- THe Government has: decided to reinforce the British squadron in Behring Sea. ' It is reported that the German fleet . '-'• will proceed to Behring- Sea for the purpose of protecting German Sealers. . .•■The Standard's St. Petersburg corres--pondent telegraphs that Russia is . mobilising her fleet off Siberia in order to • resisb the American demands with regard to Behring Sea.. . ~ The Foreign office deny that the ' Behring Sea dispute is serious. The despatches are merely a re-hash of what has - appeared in the press. The latter accuse , Secretary Blame of working up war feeling for party purposes, January 7. There is no excitement of feeling exhibited by ihe English Press over the -- y ]3ehring Sea dispute The Standard's "Washington • correspondent telegraphs that the United states Goyeruinent is. . <considerin!» a proposal to suspend seiihiisr peiuhngau' agreement with the Powers interested. Washington, January 6 «• Dalziel's Agency states that Blame has . consented to arbitrate. ; The correspondence in connection w'th -the Behring Sea fishery dispute has been -submitted to Congress. The Marquis .of Salisbury in Irs despatches insisted that GreaD Britain had always denied the Russian claims to Behring Tea, holding, as he did that Behring Sea was only a porsion of tie Pacific, and if that was. doubtful he was •willing to submit the matter to arbitration. Mr J. G. Blame claimed to arbitrate :for a definition of the rights of Russia, • amd as to how far they had been conceded by Great Britain. January 7. The New York: Herald considers- that ' 4he United States, has no right to mmio pohse sealing and under purchase Russia. The New York Times, World, and ' Tribune advise moderation m dealing ■With the i matter.
