Terrific Storm in Brisbane
Bbisbahe, December 16. A thunderstorm, accompanied by totr.uts of rain and a hurricane of friud, ' pasted • ver Brisbane on the 10th last. The wind for about 20 minutes bit W with the force of a tornado, and carried away the handeon c stone spire of the Albert-street New Wesieyaa Church. It broke nearly all the metal telephone posts <m Victoria Bridge. Hailstones tho size of pigeons' eggs lay several iaches deep in vnriuis parts oc the city two i»ou:8 after the cessation <i the storm. Many windows were broken, and it is feared the damage to crops will be great. Many shop keepers had considerable damage done to their stocks by rain and hail beating into their premises.
