Sale of Sylvia Park Stud
(I'ER UNITED PItKSS ASSOCIATION.) Atckland. January 5 Tbecele rated Sylvia Park S'ud was soM by auction to-day. There was a large attendance, including buyers from all parts of the colonies. The bidding was spirited throughout. The total sum realised was 22,475 guineas. The stallions were sold first, and whea Nordenfeldt was led info the ring there was a round of applause, the horse looked a pic* ure. The following are the prices realised for the principal lots : — Fusilnde, by Musket— Wai-iti, was started at 100 gi.i leas, and was knocked down a 175 guineas to Air W. Ruth- ! bone, of Hawkes Bay. Nordenfeldt, by Musket — Onyx, caused a great amount of Excitement. There , were only three bidders. l)r Ross started him at 4000 guineas, and the bidding went rapidly to 5000 guineas ; Mr Crozier retired a' 5500 guineas, and the horse was knocked down at 66P0 guineas to Mr T T Day, of Sydney. St. Lfg r, by Done isier— Atlantis, was sold for 4' JO guineas to Mr L. D Nathan; Hotchkiss, by Musket — Petroleuse, was sold for 335 guineas to Mr T. Morrin. After the sale of stallions the brood mares were sold. Crinoline, 150 guineas, to Mr O'Bripn : Erycina, 230 guineas, and Fleurette, 120 guineas to Mr J. Marshall ; Florence McCarthy, 4(30 guineas, Mr Gollftn ; Hipp.m.i, 100 guineas, Mr J. D. Orniond ; L'Orient, 105 guineas, Mr Eat h bone; Maid of Honor, 330 guineas, Mr W. R. Wilson ; Mersey brought 2300 guineas, Mr R. Wilson, of Melbourne, being the purs cha«er. My Idea, 130 guineas, Mr Nathan; Nelly Moore, 470 guineas, Mr Wilson ; Onyx, 300 guineas, Mr T. Morrin ; Pearl Ash, 450 guineas, Mr W. E. Wilson ; Radiance, 230 guineas, Mr Rathbnne; Steppp. 200 guineas, Mr T. Morrin ; Sylvia, 125 guineas, Mr T Morrin ; Tres Deuce, 42 ) guineas.
