(OTTB OWN COKBEBPONDENT.I The Birmingham - Kiwitea Athletic Sports were held on Wednesday last, 24th December. 1890. The early part of the day was very wet and the attendance was small in consequence. The committee had left too much to be done on the day on which the sports were held. The ground was rough, but the Association could not do much to it as they only had the use of it for the year. Following are the results of the several events : — 1. Maiden Race, 120 yards, of £2 15s, Ist prize, 40s; 2nd, 15s. To be competed for by persons that have nerer won an advertised race. Eight started. A W Watts, 1; E Byrne, 2. Won easily. 3. 1(K) yards Handicap, of 60s. Ist prize, 40s ; 2nd, lss ; 3rd ss ; Eight started. O Pleasants (Byds), 1 ; A W Watts (3yds), 2; A Adsett (Byds), 3. A very close finish. 4. Birmingham Handicap, 3 events. 22<>yds, 440 yds, and 880 yds, of £g 10s. Ist prize, £5; 2nd, 50s; 3rd, 20s; Ist Event — 220 Yards. Six started. A W Watts, 6yds, 1 ; G Richardson, 9yds, 2; 0 Pleasants, 10yds, 3. 2nd Event — 440 Yards. A W Watts, 20yds, 1 ; R Whisker, scr, 2 ; 0 Pleasants, 18yds, 8. This was a 1 good race. | 3rd Event— Bßo Yards. j G Bichardson, 35yds, 1 ; B Whisker, scr, 2 ; Pleasants, 80yds, 3. As \ W Watts scored most points in the Handicap, by winning two events, he took first prize ; Bichardson, 2 ; Whisker, 3. 5. High Jump Handicap, of 27s 6d. Ist prize, 20s ; 2nd, 7s 6d ; Three entered. Bailey (scr), sft 2in. 1 ; Munro (3in), 4ft 9in, 2. 8. Mile Race, handicap, 105s. Ist prize, 60s ; 2nd, 30s ; 3rd, 15s ; Eight started. J London (55yds), 1 ; Pettigrew (40yds), 2 ; Fanthorpe (40yds), 3. Won by about 10 yards. 9. Hurdle Race, 220 yds handicap, of 555. Ist prize, 40s ; 2nd, 10s ; 3rd, ss; Sis started. D Sanson (scr), 1; B Whisker (scr), 2 ; H S Mnnro (12yds), 3. This was the best race of the day ; won by a bit in hand. 10- Vaulting with Pole, handicap of 25s l?t prize, 20s ; 2nd, 5s ; 1 Four entered, Adsett (scr), 1. 12. Mile Walking Handicap, of 70s. Ist prize, 40s ; 2nd, 20s j 3rd, 10s ; Seven started. Bogers syds), 1; Lyon (scr}, 2; W London (80yds), 3. Won easily. 13. Quoits. 60s. Ist, 40s; 2nd, 10s; Sisterson and Dixon divided Ist and 2nd prizes. 14. Putting Caber, 20s. Ist prize, 20s ; Four entered. H S Hunro, 1 ; A Sinon, 2. 15. Putting Stone. Ist prize, 20s; Four entered. J Wilson, 1. 16- Throwing Hammer. Ist prize, 20s ; Three Entered. Donaldson, 1. 17. Consolation Handicap, of 455» Ist prize, 30s ; 2nd, 15s ; Five started. H S Munro (syds) and G Bichardson (scr) ran a dead heat ; in the run off Munro came in first.
