V,Tbjs monthly meeting of the Edu<sa^on^Board was commenced on Mon- 1 * -day last, Present — Messrs Carson (in thenehair), Sanson, Baker, Fry, Notmati, Hurley, Beckett, and the Rev. RossV The Inspector was also pre- - sent'. 5 ' • Miuntes. — The minutes of the previous meeting were. read and confirmed. ' APPOINTMENTS IN COMMITTEE.— The following appointments were made in Committee ;— Mangatoki : Committee^ letter with reference to appointing female teacher, referred to the Executive. Whenuakura : The Board confirmed the appointment of Mr A. . B Lattey to Whenuakura. Palmerston : The Committee forwarded the :. resignations of Mrs Mellish (second - assistant at Palmerston North) and Miss*-' Hob bs (assistant mistress at Terrace End.) Resolved, "That the ■ ~ resignations of Mrs Mellish and Miss Hobbs be accepted, and that Miss Hobbs be granted a certificate of service." It was further resolved, "That Mr W. Foster be appointed second assistant at Palmerston North, and that the names of Miss Davis and Mibs A. McLeod be submitted for the position of third assistant at Palmerstou, if they agree." It was decided to advertise the vacancy at Terrace End. Hunterville : Resolved to appoint Geo. P. Parnell public teacher at Hunterville. Foxton : Resolved that Josephine Ray be appointed to a cadetsbip at Foxton. Glen Nevis : The resignation of Miss Jfhilpot of Glen Nevis, was received. Bulls .: The Board resolved to appoint | Daisy Stevens to a cadetship at Bulls. Warrengate : Resolved that Mary Yoltz be appointed to a cadetship at Warrengate. Mount View : On the motion of Mr Notman, seconded by Mr Baker, it was resolved that a letter be sent to Mount View Committee calling attention to the grave charge brought against the teacher, < and stating that, in the opinion of .•■ the ' Board, Mr Tomlinson should be asked to send in his resignation. The Board then resumed in open Pembebton. — Mr Beckett reported on ibb site at ; Peiriberton. Resolved on the motion of Mr Notman, seconded by Mr Fry, " That in the opinion of this Board. r the school to be erected in the Apki (Peuiberton) Block should be built ou section 29, as being the most central site in the block ; and that the settlers interest ;.d be requested to complete the clearing of the site, in readiness for the building, so soon as the funds of the Board will j>ermit. Feilding. — The Board declined to enlarge the residence at Feilding, aid the question of a new floor to the lobby was referred to Mr Fry.
