(per press association.) Tihaktt, December 16. To-day's holiday was marred by a case <of drowning. A lad named Curtin, aged 15, a draper's messenger, one of a party of four lads, was bathing in the Waahdyke 'Creek. He was unable to swim, and got x)ut of his depth. The others* feeing younger, were unable to save him, though one made a plocky attempt. Wanganui, December 16. The train from New Plymouth, on arrival here at 5 o'clock last night, met with ; a flight mishap, owing to one of the carriwges being derailed, the windows were •smashed, but ho passengers were hint, altnough they were considerably scired.
