1 \OXTR OTTN COItBESPONDENT.] A public meeting [was held at the Apiti iPost Office on Saturday the 13th instant, '<for che purpose of c ecting a school committee. The following members were : Messrs Nix (chairman), E. Curnmerfield (secretary) W. F. Marsh, G. -Ditncan, R. Stewar^, H. Ostern and E. HilJer. All the settlers here are much pleased that school' mat rs have com inencod under suet favorable auspices^ ■and we recken the jtbrmation of a schoo. "district here is the! best thing that has iappened since the Block was opened. Bushfelling is nearly finished, about 1200 acres having been cleared this year, \vhich means progress in the settlement. Sheep shearing /was finished to-day •with satisfactory results. Some ewes belonging to Messrs ; Miller Bros, clipped tfroin 12 to 14£lbs of wool. A number of intending purchasers have teen looking at the Government land up ; here which is shortly to be sold.
