In the dase Ellis versus the South British Insurance Company, a claim for £1000 insurance on the vessel William Wallace, damaged in a gale, a yerdict wa9 returned for the plaintiff. A full Court will determine- tile amount the defendants have to pay. Mr Amos, contractor, is suing the Eailway Department for £300,000 in connection with seyeral contracts. The case begins early next year. December 17. McLean is willing to row anyone who may challenge him. It is unlikely he will visit America, for some time at any rate. This Day. Mr Crick, member for Macquarrie, has unreservedly withdrawn the charges he mnde against the Speaker and Chairman of Committee of the House of Assembly in connection with the Broken Hill Water Supply Bill.
