The Secretary said he had written to Mr Beckett explaining the.-reason why he could not legally be allowed to vote, and it was understood by the Board that Mr Beckett could not evade payment "of amount applied for. The chairman reported having visited Palmerston as a deputation with reference to a site for the-proposed district: hospital and having with the committee* inspected the yarious sites from which, the choice was to be made, and mentioned: the one it was proposed to select, being situated half a mile to the right of the road going into Palmerston from Terraceend. It was a good position, and capable of being well drained, arid the cost would, only be about £30. He said the financial position of the scheme was, that there was £1,100 in the bank, which with the subsidy would make £2,000. He had no doubt the papers in the district would write the matter up, and do their best to bring the scheme to a successful issue. Proposed by Mr Lucas, and seconded by Mr Mills, That permission be given to Messrs Browne and Stanz to fell road line as requested on the Board's usual terms, everything to be cuti down, and payment to be made when passed by tho Engineer.—Carried. Proposed by Mr Fowles, and seconded by Mr Lucas, That the thirds accruing from all sections on the main cross road east, Feilding Block, he spent informingthe aforesaid road from the end of the present formation, and that tenders bo called as soon as the thirds now due come to hand.—Carried. ■•,>..'; Proposeed by Mr Homer, and seconded by Mr Hay thorns, that the' Engineer call tenders to close the next meeting of the Board,for the necessary work on Mcßeth's line opposite sections 77 and 78, and for the delivery of 50 loads of metal on the Kimbolton road within the Apiti Ward out of the balance of thirds now available.—Carried. Proposed by Mr Homer, and seconded by Mr Haythorne, That permission- be given to F. B. Mcßeth to fell the bush on the lower Kiwitea Boad as applied for on the Board's usual terms, also to John Nixon to fell bush opposite his sections - Pemberton, on the same terms.—Carried ►- Proposed by Mr Homer, and seconded by M r Haythorne, That the Engineer call tenders to close at Birmingham on Saturday the 29th at 3 p.m. for the work on the Kimbolton road south of the Apiti Block, and for that on the Oroua Valley road. Messrs Fowles, Haythorne, and Homer be a committee to open and close the same.—Carried. Tenders for works were opened and dealt with, and after passing accounts for payment the Board adjourned.
