The conference between the employers and labour party has been broken off. .Employers refused to accept Mr Millar as a delegate to the conference. Thelabor representatives then withdrew. They haye wired to the labour bodies throughout the colony to resume work: on their own terms. Mr Millar declines to make a public . statement, but it is understood that the ' ' Unionists were wilting to work with mmUnionists. They have telegraphed throughout the colony for the men. toresume work unc n !i ionally, but will not reeogmse the Employers Association,, dealing only with the employers in* dividually. Wbstpobt, This Day. Definite and reliable information as to the present attitute of the Denniston Unionist Miners is available to-day. . The report that the men intended to take a ballot as to resuming is unfounded.' They are firm in the determination to fight it out to the bitter end. The unionists admit there is no chance of work for them this year, but they consider matters ar* - shaping in their favour. £100 strike donations were received fronrtheAmalgamative Miners Association of Australia* (This accounts for the " firmness ".) Lonpok, October 80. A Labour Federation has been formed,, with Mr Mann as President. Rules hay» been adopted, and it is expected that th* Federation will comprise upwards of ona hundred Unions. Sydnkt, October 32. - Several attacks on free labour haye> been reported during the/ past two days* A body of 300 men rushed a steajjneir^ from Newcastle which was lying. at.the> ' wharf, and ill-treating non-Uaionista who were unloading her. One man waa thrown bodily overboard, hut his rescue was effected. Eventually thepohoe suo~ ceeded in quelling the disturbance. One' of the police sergeants was wounded by a piece of road metal which had been hurled: at him, and he had to be conveyed to the hospital. Bbisbaick, This Day. A party of free laborers struck work owing to a reduction of pay for overtime from 3s to Is 6d per hour ; but they resumed work on condition that 2b be paid till the end of the weak.
