A violent thunderstorm prevailed yesterday throughout the colony, and telegraphic communication with Queensland, Yict "ia and South Australia was temper* ;irily interrupted. I:i some parts the storm raged with the severity of a tornado. Melbocknb, This Day. Terrific gales have been raging on the coast for the past two days, and on shore a considerable amount of damage has bean done at Brunswick, one of the suburbs. The roof was torn off a large grain store and the wall blown out. The schooner Aquilla foundered in the port. Great damage is reported from the country districts. Adelaide, This Day. A violent gale blew yesterday and slight damage resulted to the shipping. The tide was the highest eyer known in South Australia. Out of sexenteen fishing vessels which were lying at anchor at Emgatone tea : were either blown ashore during the height of the gale or sunk,
