Sylvo and Lawton's Surprises

The attendance at the Assembly Booms lasfcoiiffht io witness the above Company's performance was not bo large as the ocJa,ion deserved. The whole programme -was gone through in capital style, and the storms tf applause which were given to the performers, clearly showed that Feilding audiences can appreciate a "real good «how " Mr Alf Lawton and Miss Clara Spencer, in their German sketch, were excellent, as also was the former gentleman's comic songs and humorous sayings. Miss "Spencer gave two or three capital character songs during the evening, and and was quite at home with the audience, j Mdlle. Cprina, on the piano slack wire, fairly brought the house down by the wonderful feats she accomplished, lhe performance of such acts as balancing four spinning plates, passing through a hoop, lying down on the wire, &c , merited all the applause she was rewarded with. Sylvo, the innovator, was a host in himselt. The clever feats he performed were wonderful, and we can confidently say that his superior in this line has never appeared. before a Feilding audience. They included balancing a lighted lamp on the edge of a plate, throwing up the lamp and catching it upright on the edge of the plate; spinning half-a-crown on the brim of a parasol, stopping it and then turning it again oh its edge, without applying any aid whatever with his hands. The show concluded with a laughable ferce entitled " Stratagem." As the company .play again to-night we hope to see them rewardedwith a bumper house.
