London, October 2. New Zealand hemp is in poor demand; 140 bales have been sold at a decline of 10s per ton. At the wool sales to-day, bidding was spirited. Crossbreds and clothing merinos were very firm. Faulty sorts are irregular. The present series close on the 10th instant. The price for frozen meat remains unchanged. October 3. Seven hundred troops have been ordered for Cbatam, and have left for some destination unknown. It is supposed they are to be held in readiness to suppress an outbreak somewhere.
