Mr McLean arid Mr Habens, president of the Railway Seivants> Society, were present. On -the motion of the former Mr D- P. Fisher was elected 'chairman, the suggestion that the Rey? Mr Habens be appointed not meeting any support. Mr Fisher deprecated any forcible speeches. It was suggested the press should be excluded, but after, some discussion the reporters were allowed to remain. It was decided to request the Premier immediately to ask the Railway Commissioners, to be present Mr McLean could not see why Unionists , should not work with non- Unionists. His . statement that his company must stand by;; the men! who had worked for tiiwa during the strike, was cheered. .
