MR. MACARTHUR'S HEALTH.
TO THE KDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir,— ln Tuesday's N.Z. Times the following paragraph appears :— " Mr Maoarthur, the member for Manawatu, is, we regret to learn, compelled to undergo an operation which will necessitate entire abstinence from political work for the next three or four months. Mr Macarthur has for some time been regarded as one of the strong men of the Ministerial party, and has been marked as a possible Cabinet Minister in the event of Sir Harry Atkinson getting a majority at the elections and reconstructing the Government. His enforced temporary removal from active work may affect his election, but in any case he intends to stand for Manawatu, in which i district, the boundaries haying been greatly altered, he is considered to be very strong." As the above statements are quite tinauthorised by me, and are likely to mislead the electors, let me say that though I shall eventually have to undergo an operation it will not take place until after the election. My medical advisers inform me that in ordinary oases are cove-y takes about from four to six weeks, and that after Buch recovery the enre is- a permanent one, and that consequently I shall be even fitter for active political life if elected than I have been for some years past. — Yours faithfully, D. H. Magabthub.
