Lockhart, a commission agent, and an old resident in Canterbury, formerly of the Hakataramea Station, died suddenly- yesterday afternoon. He has been unwell for sometime. At the inquest held this afternoon, the eyidence showed that death resulted from syncope of the heart. A verdict of death from natural causes was returned. Acckland, September 15. Nicholas Moros, one the men cautioned by Mr Justice Connolly during the Mangawhare murder trial for having fired at Fun eke when capturing him, writes to the Herald protesting against the Judge's remarks, and aays Funoke ' would havo fired at him if he had given him time. He points out that the Coroner'e jury at Dargavilla complimented him for his act. . ' Ditnediw, September 16^ A meeting was held to-night, attended by about 120 women, Mrs James Fulton presiding, when a resolution was passed that this meeting pledges itself to arouse interest in the female suffrage question ; also, that members of Parliament, at the coming election in Dunedin and the suburbs, be urged to support Sir John Hall in obtaining the franchise for all classes of women. . • ;
