Acclimatisation Society
A meeting of the above was held at Mr Sherwill's office lnat night. Mr D. Dowries was elected as chairman in place of Mr Sherwill, who has accepted the position of secretary. Mr Sherwill reported that Major Campbell, of Awahuri, had waited upon him and suggested that in order to strengthen the position of the society, and to extend its sphere of usefulness, the local society should amalgamate with the WelliugtonWairarapa Society. — The suggestion was favorably received. Proposed by Mr Haybittle, seconded by Mr Kirton, That the Feilding and Kiwitea Acclimation Society be amalgamated with the Wellington- Wairarapa Society. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Kirton, seconded by Mr Hwybtttle, That the secretary be instructed to remit to the Wellington and Wairarapa Society the sum of ten pounds, being the balance of the available funds in the hands of the Treasurer. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Haybittle, seconded by Mr Curtis, That the chairman, Mr Downes, and the secretary be authorised to sign cheques. — Carried. Proposed by Mr Kirton, seconded by Mr Haybittle, That the secretary apply to all members for their arrears of subscriptions in order that a complete list may be forwarded to Wellington. — Carried. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the proceedings.
