Kiwitea Road Board

The ordinary monthly meeting of the* above was held at 11 a.m. to-day. Present — Messrs Taylor (chait-man), Lucas,. Haythorne, Williamson, Mills, Fowles,. Ward, and Homer. The minutes of the previous ordinarymonthly meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE From J. R. Anderson, asking when the Board intend opening Pohangina road, and enclosing account £9 15s for felling; roadline. From J. A. Baird, re notice of rates on section transferred to him. From E. Jones, stating inability to pay rates at present. From W. Cannell, re change ofnarn* on rate roll. From R. H. Whisker, asking permission to fell roadline. From J. L. Pemberton, asking permission to fell roadline. From H. Fowles, re the same. From W. Gardener, asking the Board to fell roadline. From District Survey office, re roadthrough 'sections 173 and 178. From W. Moon, re hauling dead cowout of ditch. From J. Miller, re protection from the? Board as to stray cattle. From District Land office, re cemetery and school reserves being gazetted. From J. H. Waugh, re the Board's complaints about blocking up road. From H. Palamsey, objecting to the Board's terms for clearing roadline. From Oldham Bros., re horses bogged through bad state of road. From G. Malcolm, asking the Board to remove tree from track. From Wanganui District Railway office, circular re cheapest route for goods for Auckland. Frown Crown Lands office, re power to pay the thirds derived from sale of deferred payment land. From Treasury office, acknowledging; payment of £18 10s 7d. From Property Tax Department, re subsidy under " Local Bodies Finance and Powers Act, 1885." From Younger and Laing, re tender for work in Foston Small Farm Block. From the Engineer, the monthly report of public works. From Colonial Secretary's office, with copy of the order of the House re returnsof revenue and expenditure. From Treasury office, re interest dv& on Ist August on the inscribed debt of the Board. From District Land office, re the Government Loans to Local Bodies Act Amendment Act, 1889. Proposed by Mr Lucas, and seconded by Mr Mills, That the name of J. J.. Williamson be placed on the rate roll in. place of W. Cannell for section 807 Waituna. — Carried.
