Horticultural Society

The annual general meeting of the ibove was held last night at the office of ;he secretary, Mr E. Goodbehere. Pres?nt — Messrs S. R. Turner, ' Sherwill, Fowles (senr.), Lethbridge, Kirtou, H. Worsfold, I. Chiircher, W. and C. Weightman, Oke, Knight. Mr Lethbriage wa» roted to the ch..ir. The minutes of the last annual meetingwere read and confirmed. The Secretary reported that the balance to credit of the society was 10s 6d, The following officers were elected — Mr Lethbridge, president ; Mr Sherwill, vicepresident ;Mr Turner, vice-president ; Mr Goodbehere, secretary and treasurer. Committee — Messrs Kirton, Fowles, ;W. and C. Weightman, Churcher, Knight, Barton, Frank Fowles, T. Hall, J. Oke, E. and H. Worsfold. Schedule committee — Messrs Sherwill, Barton, and H r Worsfold, to report to the general committee on Monday the 25th inst., at 8 pan, A letter was read from Mr T. U. McKenzie, in which he informed the society of his intention to give 30s for the best show of roses at the spring show, of course Mr McKenzie will not compete with roses. Proposed by Mr H. Worsfold, seconded by Mr Kirton, That the spring show b» held on the last Wednesday in November, and the autumn show on the first Wednesday in March. — Carried. Resolved that outside judges be obtained if possible. The meeting then adjourned.
