Death of Mr John Manson

The news of the death of Mr John Manson, of The Pines, Feilding, created considerable sensation in town this morning. From what we can gather Mr Manson w«nt up yesterday to inspect some landed property of his situated in the Harbor Board Endowment Block. He waa in his usual health, and seemed in good Bpirits, and no one could have anticipated so sudden an end. Immediately on receipt of the sad intelligence Constable Tuohey went up to take charge of the remains of the deceased. We are infoi-med, by Mr Pleasants, that it would appear from the position in which the body was found that Mr Manson, after he had gone round a flock of sheep he had intended to inspect, returned to tha buggy, which he had left near the gate opening on to the Valley road, and then gone to catch his horse, which he had taken out of the shafts to allow it to erraze, and probably having over-exerted himself fell down and died. The neighbouring settlers had missed Mr Manson and turned out in force last night to search for him, but they did not discover the body until this morning. It has not been decided whether an inquest will be necessary, as a good deal will depend on the replies to messages sen* to his medical advisers in Wellington and Ohmtchurch. Jt is known, however, that he had suffered from heart disease.
