London, July 31. The Earl of Jersey and Lord Knutsford visited the Mining Exhibition to-day. The former thought the exhibition a perfect revelation of the extent of the mineral wealth in Australia, and especially in New South Wales. He expressed the opinion that the coal mines must encourage the investment of English capital. The Earl of Jersey has appointed Mr George Goschen, son of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, as his private secretary. Messrs Shaw, Saville and Company's new cargo steamers Rangitira and Pakeha sail for New Zealand in August. A rival of Succi, named Jaques, has succeeded in fasting over forty days.
