London, July 31. The Earl of Jersey and Lord Knutsford visited the Mining Exhibition to-day. The former thought the exhibition a perfect revelation of the extent of the mineral wealth in Australia, and especially in New South Wales. He expressed the opinion that the coal mines must encourage the investment of English capital. The Earl of Jersey has appointed Mr George Goschen, son of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, as his private secretary. Messrs Shaw, Saville and Company's new cargo steamers Rangitira and Pakeha sail for New Zealand in August. A rival of Succi, named Jaques, has succeeded in fasting over forty days. At a meeting of the St. Katherine Docks Company, Mr Norwood, Chairman, ■aid the Cardinals, Archbishops and other busybodies who led public opinion astray ought to see that the dockers carried out their part of the agreement. Mr E. Stanhope has asked the Duke of Cambridge to inquire into the sentences passed on the mutinous Guards, with a view of lenienoy. August 1. The Dockers have allied themselves with the servants of the New South Wales Railway, and one of the seyorest strikes experienced for years is expected to take place shortly. Buenos Ayres, August 1. Several small riots have taken place in the provinces, and the rioters [destroyed the railway line. Troops have been despatched to the scene of the disturbance. A conciliation is likely to be brought about. Guatemala, August 1.
