m Wellington, July 29 Sir Frederick Whitaker presented t petition from debenture-holders of th< Taranaki Breakwater praying the Govern xnent to provide funds for paying the debentures. Sir Frederick Whitaker said that he merely presented the petition, but took no responsibility. The Legislative Council Bill was further considered in committee. —Progress was reported, with leave to sit again. The Council then rose.
